Throughout perimenopause and menopause, the body undergoes significant hormonal shifts, including decreases in oestrogen and progesterone levels, as well as fluctuating levels of luteinising hormone and follicle-stimulating hormone. These changes can intensify existing ADHD symptoms or even introduce new ones, making it more challenging for women to handle daily tasks and emotional stability.

Perimenopause, the period leading up to menopause, is often characterised by fluctuating hormone levels that can create new challenges for women with ADHD.
In a survey conducted by ADDITUDE magazine involving 5,000 women, 63% reported that ADHD had the greatest impact on their lives during perimenopause.
More than 93% noticed a difference in the severity of their ADHD symptoms, with over half describing these symptoms as life-altering.

The decrease in oestrogen and progesterone can further worsen ADHD symptoms, making it harder to manage daily responsibilities and emotional well-being.
